Cellfield Reading Programme
Our Cellfield Reading Programme is a unique 10 day program using the science of the brains ability to change itself (neuroscience) to improve reading and or comprehension by 1- 2 years in only 10 days- 1 hour per day. School holidays are an ideal time to attend. This will be running 3rd August 2026 for 10 days, Monday to Friday.

Our popular Chess workshops are back for all year groups and abilities, along with our 11+ workshops to get your year 5 children ready for that all important 11+ entrance exam.
Chess Foundations Workshop: Monday 10th August 2026: 9am-12pm
Robin Slade, the Essex Junior Chess and Brentwood School Chess coach will be leading a chess foundations workshop which is aimed at complete beginners or those who just know the basics. This workshop will not only teach a new skill but promises to be lots of fun too! If you have never tried chess before, why not give it a go?

Confident Chess Workshop: Monday 10th August 2026: 1pm-4pm
Robin Slade, Brentwood School Chess coach, will be leading a workshop aimed at those already confident players who wish to learn some new skills and strategies to take their chess playing to the next level. This promises to be both educational and fun and will involve lots of chess playing too!

Yr5 11+ Advanced Maths: Wednesday 12th August 2026: 9am-12pm
Teacher Juliet will teach and revise the more difficult Maths concepts in the 11+ exams including reasoning, data handling, advanced geometry, word problems and more to prepare students for these trickier areas in time for the exams in September. Suitable for both the CSSE and FSCE exams.

Yr5 11+ Writing: Monday 17th August 2026: 9am-12pm
This fun, interactive writing workshop focuses on teaching children how to identify and include different word types and add more detail to their writing in line with the expecations of the 11+ exam. We also aim to expose children to a wider vocabulary that they can then start to include in their own writing. Each child is extended from their own unique starting point to ensure progress within the session. This is led by our 11+ tutor Nuzma and is aimed at year 5 11+.

Yr5 11+ FSCE Writing (Discovery Paper): Wednesday 19th August 2026: 12:30pm-3:30pm
The new FSCE exam for entry to CCHS includes the Discovery Paper, a paper where students are asked to show their creativity by thinking of new and imaginative ideas or to solve problems in original and unique ways. Teacher Lauren will be looking at different examples of tasks which may come up in the Discovery paper, explore how best to respond to the questions and what to do to get the best marks in this component of the FSCE exam. An essential workshop for all girls taking the entrance exam for CCHS.
