What’s included in the free assessment?
Don’t be put off by the word ‘assessment’! Really it’s an opportunity for the teacher to meet the student and their parents/carers to discuss any concerns that the parents/carers may have regarding their child’s progress in school.
If it’s appropriate and the child is comfortable in doing so then an informal piece of work will be carried out which will give the tutor specific information about initial areas to focus on when designing the child’s unique program of study.
For our secondary students we offer a free assessment /lesson with our qualified and experienced teachers. We book these sessions in at a time that would suit you going forward if you decide to enrol. This way you meet the teacher who your child will continue with.

The benefits of the assessment:
Having an assessment before enrolling on a tuition program has a number of benefits including:
- Allowing the teacher to build an accurate understanding of which areas to concentrate on when designing the child’s unique study program.
- Allowing the student to meet the teacher and sample the system so that they will be comfortable working in the centre from the outset.
- Providing a time for the parents to ask the teacher questions (and vice versa!)
What happens after the assessment?
Frequently, the assessment simply confirms the concerns that the parents already suspected. In this case they simply decide immediately to proceed with tuition and it’s then a matter of discussing a suitable time during the week and arranging a starting date.
Sometimes, the assessment acts as a reassurance to parents that their concerns were not so serious after all and they decide to continue to help their child themselves.
An assessment is free, however, we do still have to pay for our teacher to come in. We therefore ask that if you cannot attend you let us know at least 24 hours prior to the assessment. We are entitled to charge a non-refundable deposit of 1 lesson fee to reschedule your cancelled/missed assessment. If you attend the rescheduled assessment and enrol this will cover your lesson deposit. If you cancel, do not show up or reschedule for the 2nd assessment, you will not receive a refund.
We offer one free assessment lesson for either Maths, English or Science for secondary students. If you wish to come for two or more subjects the second woud be chargeable.
